Social responsibility
Ljubljanske mlekarne, the leading dairy in Slovenia, are aware of social responsibility to the employees, environment, the communities, where we work, and to other stakeholders of our company. We believe that we can develop our long-term goals and realise them with good relationships, which begin within the company with our employees, and also with a responsible attitude to our wider social and natural environments. Our task is to do everything in our power to make our work sustainable - economically and socially responsible, and environment friendly, which will lead to the long-term success of our company. Therefore, social responsibility is an integral part of our management strategy.
Employees
In Ljubljanske mlekarne the employees are the basis and crucial source for our development and growth. We are aware of the importance of this fact, therefore, we are focusing our long-term efforts on employee satisfaction. We are the first company in the food processing industry in Slovenia, which received the certificate for a family friendly company. We also perform a lot of other activities, for example, we select the employee of the year, organise anniversary celebrations, and in the Christmas season we give gifts to the children of the employees.
Environmental protection
In Ljubljanske mlekarne we strive for effective use of natural resources and to lower the influence of our activities and products on the environment. We carry out a project to introduce integrated environmental system, which aims at EMAS registration. Regarding the environment protection we are also organising activities within the Green Light programme through which we aim to reduce our lighting energy use for at least 30 percent. We are also closely monitoring the use of tap water, electric power, steam and heating oil; we also monitor the amounts of produced waste water. All our plants have their own waste treatment systems. Ljubljanske mlekarne made a further step toward being an environment friendly company with the implementation of waste separation so, that each and every employee can contribute their own share.
Sponsorships and donations
Besides taking care of our employees and protecting the environment the corporate responsibility of Ljubljanske mlekarne also includes sponsorship deals and donations to humanitarian, sports, cultural and scientific projects and organisations.
For several years we have been donating milk (Alpsko mleko) to 30 safe houses, homes for mothers and crisis centres across Slovenia. We donate annually about 17,500 litres of milk. Our support of the sports goes to Slovenian alpine skiers and we are also a proud supporter of canoeists Jot Zakrajšek. We also find a common language with Slovenian musicians Slon in Sadež.
Expanding knowledge
Ljubljanske mlekarne are also happy to help educational and scientific institutes. High school and university students of different subjects are welcome in our company, where they can learn about the dairy industry, ensuring quality and safety of dairy products, and we also often present examples of good practice to the students in the field of marketing communication.
